I don’t know many people who don’t want more money, do you? I suppose there’s a few. Most people not only want more money, but desperately need more money.
Either starting an online business – or expanding something you’re currently doing to have an online presence – is a good way to make more money.
A lot of people try, but few actually ever make any money. Why?
There are so many people claiming they have the secret to making money online, just buy their courses or pay them for their coaching. Believe me, most are worthless.
In many fields, internet marketing included, you see some people reach success quickly while others never do: what makes the difference?
You have to consider the following items:
- Drive and motivation
- The people around you
If these items are not compatible, or if any are lacking, then you’ll languish.
Some people can pretty much wrangle success out thin air simply by perseverance and their personality. Even then, they’ll need proper training and tools to maximize profit and say successful.
Others need a detailed system to follow step by step, like meal plan with recipes.
You have to be honest with yourself and your abilities: after all, the person you lie to the most is… yourself.
You also have to realize that it’s almost impossible to make any money online without some investment. It doesn’t have to be huge, and is much less in most cases than starting a brick and mortar business.
The days of putting up a cheap website and doing a few SEO tweaks and making big bucks are long, long gone. Those were the Wild West days of the internet!
Today you have to have:
- A website,
- A social media presence,
- An email list,
- Sales funnels,
- Advertising $
- A product!
- You have to have something to sell: a product, service, or something.
- It can be an affiliate product where you get a commission for referring sales (millions are made with affiliate products).
It sounds like a lot, but don’t be discouraged. It does not take a rocket scientist to make money online.
You may be in a situation where you need to make a lot of money but have very little to put into this venture. I’m not going to lie to you – that’s going to be very difficult.
Mistakes that stop people from making money online:
- Trying to build something huge as their first thing
- Waiting until everything is perfect before launching
- Doing too much at once
- Not getting (paying for) the proper tools to promote, track, analyze, etc.
- Not taking the first step
- Not treating it as a real business
- Not getting help
- Failing to analyze results and make adjustments (i.e. keeping on doing the same thing that’s not working)
Making any of the above mistakes can and will sink your business or at a minimum reduce the amount of money you can make.
I’ve even seen people who picked a product that they liked that was for sale on Amazon or eBay, they would then advertise that product and sell it online for a higher price. As they grew they started ordering their own products from manufacturers. They stayed focused on their niche, and stayed targeted with their advertising by analyzing everything (i.e. they paid for the proper tools so that they were not flying blind).
