I try to limit the number of posts that I make that only reference another blog. However, occasionally I read something and have to make a comment here about it. Steve Pavlina has a very popular blog with the theme of "Personal Development for Smart People". He posted an article about what it's like to author such a popular blog. His article has some great observations and interesting tidbits, however, to me, the statement that is potentially most valuable in his article concerns the feedback he receives (and he receives a lot of feedback) from his readers... here it is:
"I eventually noticed that even when people seem to be writing about me, they're really writing about themselves. Even when something is addressed to me in the guise of genuine feedback, it's hardly ever about me, and it's seldom actionable." |
Why do I think this is so valuable? Because it shows what people think about and what they want... (answer: themselves and solutions to their problems).
To be successful, like Steve has with his blog, we need to have content or products that address those wants and needs. People don't really want to hear about you, unless you're a celebrity, rather, they want to know how you can help them, or your products can help them, become the person they want to be.

P.S. Now Steve, if I could just get you to remove those "No Follow" Tags!
