Yes, I've modified the Submit Button for my Signup form (over there in the right column) once again. If you have an Internet business, the whole point of putting a signup button or purchase button on a web page is to get people to click it. The measure of the number of visitors to your site, or page, vs. the number that click your button is called conversion ratio or conversion rate. With that in mind, small changes to the look and behavior of a link or button can dramatically improve the conversion rate and add a significant boost to the bottom line of your Internet business.
This was a small modification that makes it blink 6 times after the page loads. I use JavaScript to alternate between two styles by firing a timer 2 seconds after the page loads and then alternating firing timers at 200ms intervals for the remaining 5 switches. This should draw the eye to the form, but with only 6 blinks, it should not be so obnoxious that it irritates the visitors to my site.
In one of my previous posts, I talked about using CSS to control the looks of a button and how it affects conversion rates. I put the sample code for several buttons in a Test Page that you can download and use; I just updated the test page with the code that does the blinking too. You can download it by right-clicking on it and selecting "Save Target As..." and then you can edit it and copy and paste into your own pages if you want to.
I put the CSS in the top of the Test Page html file, but in most cases this would/should be in a separate file. For more on learning CSS and Web Site Creation, get my course Introduction to Web Site Creation. For more on scripting (JavaScript & PHP), get my course on Web Page Scripting.
If you find this information and/or code helpful and use it on your site, please consider putting a link to my site on your site.
