Knowledge without Wisdom is Dangerous.

Knowledge without wisdom is dangerous.

This all too evident with governments.

It's also all too evident with businesses trying to save money and get ahead by hiring young and/or inexperienced (cheap) people in key, or even less than key, positions.

Knowledge with wisdom is unstoppable, unconquerable, and unfortunately rare.

It also cost more if you're trying to hire it - but it's almost always well worth it.

Until next time,
Fred

Knowledge is an archive of facts about reality that you have memorized, and hence, can assert whenever you want. It doesn't not amount to true understanding of such facts, and it certainly says nothing about the harmony between your attitudes and behaviors and those learnt facts of reality.

Knowledge with wisdom make you Divine like and helps you to gain success. This implies being able to use your knowledge in a way that makes a difference to your concrete problems and relationships and really furthers your life. This is wisdom.

Exactly, we learn so many things we read so many stuff but the thing is how we use it. People who know how to use their experience are the winner.

Let's not forget it's for the most part useless for anything of substance or value.

All knowledge does by itself is get people into trouble and break things. It's interjected in places it doesn't belong for personal and selfish reasons with no apparent benefit.

It takes the wisdom and the understanding to implement knowledge into something that can fully utilize the stored information.

Very true. If your mind is stuffed with lots of knowledge but you don't know the appropriate use of it, you will spoil the situation instead of sorting it out.

It still pains me that businesses think that a young, fresh faced graduate has the ability of someone with countless years of experience in a given field. Wake up people! University for me was a time to socialize and gain life experience, not academic merit. Sad times.

Knowledge is the accumulation of facts. Wisdom is the integration of those "facts" married with your own personal experiences. Wisdom comes from being aware, awake, and living in the moment. The continual act of changing our views and thoughts based on the new experiential information that has entered your consciousness. Wisdom allows for a large and open point-of-view; knowing that not everything in this realty is black/white.

Some would say that wisdom is the application of knowledge in a beneficial way. A doctor can easily read books to take in more knowledge, but if it stops there and he doesn't put that knowledge to good use it is of little value.

There is a culture in the UK at the moment for getting rid of the senior staff who have high wages and employing your people cheaply. But the problem as you mention is the they have no experience or knowledge and it will effect the businesses in the long time as they will loose the people who know how the business works.

So true, especially given the current state of technology and the internet. I fear that today's youth is taking knowledge for granted, and as a result will never develop the wisdom required for practical and critical thinking.

I knew an old electrical engineer once that was involved in a robotics start-up in the early '90s. They thought they'd save a ton of money by hiring brand-new engineers right out of college but they found out that the older engineers spent almost all day training and teaching the fresh recruits. Not surprisingly they were never able to make any real progress with developing their products. They did manage to survive for several years after a round of layoffs but the best I can remember the company eventually bit the dust.

I've been working at a major Canadian telecommunications company for the past 10 years and have consistently witnessed people with knowledge and wisdom and experience lose their jobs in favor of a cheaper less experienced workforce.

Its disgraceful. When will companies learn that knowledge and experience come at a cost but the benefits are extremely valuable?

The article's plea for humanization of scientific knowledge merits serious consideration by the society. But the question is how to make the youth read good books? They are under the spell of electronic gadgetry. The Internet by its very nature destroys our ability to pause and reflect. The attention span of internet users is decreasing. Hope somebody answers this question

"Knowledge without wisdom is a load of books on the back of an ass."

The Japanese certainly have a way with words. But surely that ass is still better off with the books than without them?

In England, learning is so highly prized that nearly half of all school leavers are starting university this term, despite average predicted debts of £26,100.

And the bible supports the need for learning. King David didn't mince his words when he declared, "fools hate knowledge".

I consider such update usefull... It means that for example if someone had "taken" my EMD in order to sell it to me later, not to use it, this update would discourage such behavior in future, wouldn´t it?

The problem with linking human emotion to knowledge and acting upon it could be used to describe the likes of stem cell research, organ cloning and the like where unfortunate science is stopped dead in its tracks by those who believe the blue spaghetti monster in the sky wouldn't be too happy and make them exist for eternity with a red hot poker up their you know what. Knowledge must be pursued, that's what took us out of Africa, it's our basic human instinct.

Great Article! According to me Knowledge is an information of which someone is aware whereas wisdom is the ability to make correct judgments and decisions.
