The new blog layout is pleasing to the eye, except for one curious omission: the header area. No blog title or graphic? Kinda odd. Not "bad" per se, just not in keeping with expectations. Is this on purpose, or just a temporary thing? An SEO tactic?

Much cleaner design. I really like it, Fred. Easier on the eyes and keeps the focus on the content.

(About time for me to do a redesign as well.)

It still looks like a blog... :)

      Two things jump out:

      1. No header, not even a blog title. I know it's your blog, of course, but other visitors might not immediately recognize it or put it into a "category", etc. I'd be interested in knowing if this affects article reads, conversions, etc. because I've never even considered having a blog that doesn't identify itself in the header.

      2. The gray screen opt-in box, which appeared a few seconds after I started reading and adjusting the screen, was a bit of an annoyance, but given the religious fervor with which popups are discussed, I'll just say, "oh, well"...

      3. (I never could count!) I'd like to see the default font size a bit bigger. Then again, your average visitor probably doesn't have 51 year old eyes that require bifocals!

      Those are my initial impressions.

      Best regards,
      Tom

    4. From Fred...

Thanks for the comments (both here and via email)... I changed the red titles to blue and I added a header (thank you Brent Riggs for cranking out a suggested example)!

      Hi Fred,

I like the design also although I have to agree with Tom on preferring bigger fonts sizes. (I'm not 50 yet)

I guess your still using typepad. Your so good at codes that's easy for you.

All my redesigns come from minor tweaks to existing wordpress themes so your expertise is a real plus for you.

    6. From Fred...

Tom & Greg... I bumped the font size 1pt... what good's a blog if people have trouble reading it anyway!
      Thanks for the input.

I like the new look. Minimalistic is really the way to go, these days. Too many blogs have too much information; if you want to make a site really user-friendly, make sure you keep it simple, that's what people really want, whether they admit it or not.

      Bravo on the new design.

Fred I like the increased font size as it makes me feel very comfortable with the read. I'm 67 and had cataracts taken off. Now I can read your posting's without my glasses at all.

I also enjoy the clean look, really helps me focus on the content. Which by the way is pretty good stuff to. LOL

I like the new site re-do and think the comments helped make it better. I agree the font size is better being a guy of 53. P.S. Also love the attention to detail in your posts. Looking forward to the next. By the way do you go to any of the trade shows and if so which ones. Thanks

I have never been to your blog before but I do like your current design. It is clean and very well organized...not much clutter. I also like your stance on nofollow. I absolutely hate people who try and sneak through loop holes online. Glad to see that you are honest. Take care.

The new look is definately a good one, although the text looks a bit big (and my resolution is 1920x1080) It must look massive on a 1024 x 768 screen :)

      Fred,

I agree with Ryan, the new design is much cleaner ... I am concerned about the amount of whitepace ... is that a good thing?

      Thanks
