Fred Black (me) meeting John Maxwell!

Fred Black (me - on left) meeting John Maxwell!

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to hear John C. Maxwell speak, as well as meet him. It was my first time hearing him speak - he is a very powerful speaker and motivator.

I purchased two copies of this book "Talent is Never Enough" so that I could read one and give one away here. I was also fortunate enough to get him to sign both copies. If you'd like to have a chance to receive one of the signed copies - free - keep reading.

For those that don't know, John Maxwell is an internationally recognized leadership expert, speaker, and author. He has sold over 16 million books! That's a lot of books! He's a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Business Week best-selling author. He was also one of only 25 authors and artists named to Amazon's 10th Anniversary Hall of Fame. Three of his books have each sold over a million copies each. He regularly speaks to Fortune 500 companies, international government leaders, and audiences as diverse ad the United States Military Academy as West Point, the National Football League, and ambassadors at the United Nations.

"Talent is Never Enough" is a MUST READ book! I've not finished it yet, but in the few chapters I've read, John has already answered some very important questions that are critically vital to my life.

What is the book about? Talent alone will not make you successful. It can open doors but it takes more than talent to keep them open and succeed. In this book, John Maxwell outlines and defines exactly how to hone your passion, maximize your potential and live the life of your dreams. He uses authentic examples and time-tested wisdom. John shares thirteen attributes you need to reach and sustain your goals.

What kind of talent? Any type. Everyone has a talent. Some have multiple talents. Talents cover the range of things a person might be good at, not simply things like music, art, or sports. It can be business, management, marketing, teaching... anything. This book teaches you to take whatever it is you're good at and excel with it.

John spoke at our Denver Kingdom Business Summit in April 2008, and he shared highlights from his (then latest) book LEADERSHIP GOLD. And years ago, my wife purchased the book the 21 IRREFUTABLE LAWS of LEADERSHIP... or something to that effect.

John is an effective speaker and an engaging communicator. I don't own Talent Is Never Enough, but my boss recommends it highly. I'd love to read it...

If you ever get the chance to hear him speak, or to read one of his many fine books - DON'T HESITATE. It's well worth the time invested to further your personal and professional goals.

    Thanks for sharing Fred!

    Hello,

I thank you for this post. The chance to win a signed copy of John Maxwell's book sounds very interesting. I guess I have heard his name dropped in certain circles, but I have not really had a proper introduction. Now I have to say that I am interested and motivated to learn more about him. And now I really hope I win his book so I can read it!

    Thank you,
    Mac Bull

I love John Maxwell! Don't ever remember if I've seen him speak live. I did get to see Zig Ziglar! Wow, that was wonderful...
Glad you got to meet him and get his book. If I'm not the fortunate one to win, then it will definitely be on my list to buy.

    Hi Fred,

In this day and age when people seem to fall for just about anything, it's always refreshing to visit your blog and read what you have to say. And if you're using your time to listen to people like John Maxwell, it's pretty easy to understand why your blog is different!

I picked up a few of his books on CD a few years ago (they were on the clearance table, my favorite place in the store...) and almost have them memorized. He communicates well and his message is definitely worth listening to.

Thanks for the tip on the new book.

    Best regards,
    Tom

I'm not one to trun down the chance of a free book - would you be able to post it to the UK if I won Fred?
