The Most Valuable Link

The Most Valuable Link!

It's fairly common knowledge that links help you rank well in search engines such as Google, but which type of link is most valuable when it comes to ranking?

Link Types:
1 Way Links: If someone likes your site and puts a link to it on their site, that's an organic link. It's a "1 way link", meaning that you do not have a reciprocal link back to them on your site. They're seen by search engines as a very strong indicator that you have a good site: other people are linking to it on their own accord and saying good things about you.

2 Way Links: When someone emails you and asks you to put a link to their site on your site and in return they'll put a link to your site on their site, it's called a "2 way link". There are links on both sites pointing to each other. These links can also be created by linking services or link directories. Some people will tell you that 2 way links are bad and will lower your ranking. This is not true as long as you're not linking to "bad" sites. Bad sites would include sex, drug, gambling sites, etc. "2 Way Links" do not count as much as 1 way links to the search engines when determining your rankings. They have been discounted to some degree due to link exchange services and directories. You'll need a lot more 2 way links than 1 way links to rank well.

3 Way Links: What is it? These are services that offer ways to automate linking and the links appear to show up as one way links. Here's how it works: Site A links to Site B, and then Site B links to Site C, and finally, Site C links to Site A. So now all 3 sites have a "1 Way Link" pointing to them.

The best type of link for SEO purposes is most definitely a 1 way link to your site. It takes time and effort to build a lot of links to your site from other sites. You have to have good, quality content that makes people want to link to you. You have to communicate and build relationships with other webmasters and bloggers. You have to submit articles and guest posts to other sites. You have to leave comments on other sites. You have to participate in blog carnivals. A lot of people will simply not make the effort to do this on a regular basis.

There are also services that can help you build links to your site. I mention two in the "Products I Use and Recommend" section in the right-hand column of this blog.

You can discover much more about ranking well in search engines from SEO Secrets Revealed. I cover the facts, with no fluff. Is it worth the $99 price tag? Yes. The fact is, I've paid much more for products with Zero content, Zero facts, and so much non-relevant data that it'd take months of effort for anyone to figure out it was all a sham (or scam!). The author(s) never counted on anyone taking the time to analyze if what they said was right or not, and that the mass amount of data presented was even related to ranking well. But I took the time, lots of time, and figured it out. Their "facts", in most cases will sink your rankings like a rock. And he/they are not the only one out there selling false information. SEO Secrets Revealed is the result of my efforts. I talk about and document exactly what I do to rank well, what works and what doesn't. It can make the difference between getting almost no search engine traffic and lots of search engine traffic. So yes, it's definitely worth it. So go get a copy!

Until next time,
Fred

I completely agree, there are so many ways to get one way links now that it's ridiculous to still be doing link exchanges or 3 way.

There are directories, blog comments, article submissions, rss directories, podcast directories, software directories, ebook directories, press releases, forum commenting, etc.

My point is, it's so easy to get one way links, why even waste time with the other two?

Linking is very beneficial and it does require a bit of patience on your part. building relationships with people before you link is critical. I have found that many entrepreneurs I eventually link with create products with me. Many inexperienced internet marketers make the mistake of trying to link to anyone just for the purpose of linking. You need to have the right traffic or there is no point to linking.

3 way links are very new to me and I appreciate you sharing that knowledge with all of us. Keep it Crankin!
